Precision in microplastic analysis

MIQALab develops and produces high-precision reference materials for microplastic analysis that are suitable for a wide variety of particle-based methods such as FT-IR, Raman, QCL, and other procedures. Based in Innsbruck (Austria), MIQALab GmbH was founded as a spin-off from the University of Innsbruck.

MIQALab produces particle-based reference materials in the form of potassium bromide (KBr) tablets. Using a patented process, these tablets are produced with a precisely defined and individually characterized particle count.

The special feature: Each tablet is individually measured and comes with a documented, precise particle count per polymer, ensuring reproducibility and transparency. The tablets are very easy to use and can be dissolved in water in seconds, releasing the particles.

MIQALab’s portfolio includes:

Priority Kit with the most important polymer types: PE, PP, PET, PS, PVC, PA, PMMA, PC, PU, and PTFE (according to the EU Drinking Water Directive)
Basic Kit with two polymers of different densities
QC Kit for quality control purposes, including deuterated polystyrene (dPS) as an internal standard
Simulated Aging Kits with UV-aged polymer particles for expanding spectral databases
Custom Kits with freely selectable polymer combinations and size fractions

The size range of the particle standards can be freely selected:

25–50 µm
50–100 µm
100–200 µm
>200 µm
