Description

Transformation/transcription domain-associated protein (UniProt Q9Y4A5, also known as 350/400 kDa PCAF-associated factor, PAF350/400, STAF40, TR-AP, Tra1 homolog) is encoded by the TRRAP (also known as PAF400) gene (Gene ID 8295) in human. Transformation/transcription domain-associated protein (TRRAP) is a cofactor component shared by several histone acetyltransferase (HAT) complexes, including SAGA (Spt-Ada-Gcn5-acetyltransferase), PCAF (P300/CBP-associated factor), and Tip60. TRRAP is an essential component of the histone epigenetic modifying mechinery that plays an important role in regulating cell-cycle progression. Trrap gene-knockdown or protein downregulation causes cell and mouse lethality, impaired spindle checkpoint and differentiation.
