Application Note: (2E)-N-[(1S,2S)-2-Hydroxy-1-methyl-2-phenylethyl]-N-methyl-2-pentenamide is an intermediate in the synthesis of (1R,2S)-Tapentadol Hydrochloride (T007230). (1R,2S)-Tapentadol is the (1R,2S)-isomer of Tapentadol (T007200, HCl), a novel, centrally acting oral analgesic with a dual mode of action that has demonstrated efficacy in preclinical and clinical models of pain relief.
