Application Note: (5beta)-3-Hydroxyandrostan-17-one is isolated from the acid-hydrolyzed urine of patients with a corticoadrenal tumor, Also, it is an intermediate used in the synthesis of 17a-Oxa-D-homo-5beta-androst-1-ene-3,17-dione (O870735), which is a metabolite in the urine of men following treatment with ?1-testololactone, which is an idiopathic oligospermic infertility. Also, it is derived from Androstenedione (A637550), which is a testosterone precursor and metabolite with androgenic activity. Controlled substance (anabolic steroid).
