"Pancreatic beta cells (beta cells) are located in pancreatic islets and are responsible for insulin synthesis and secretion, which is vital for regulating levels of glucose in the blood. In Type 1 diabetes patients, beta-cell mass and function are diminished, leading to insufficient insulin secretion and hyperglycemia.
