Description

Cardamonin, a known 2&prime,,4&prime,-dihydroxy-6&prime,-methoxychalcone, was recently identified as an inhibitor of melanocyte differentiation, among many other pharmacology activities. Cardamonin promoted degradation of intracellular &beta,-catenin while suppressing melanogenesis by down-regulating the expression of MITF and tyrosinase, resulting in decreased melanin content. Furthermore, it was found that cardamonin promoted the degradation of &beta,-catenin through a GSK-3&beta,-independent mechanism, which suggested that Siah-dependent pathway and/or a PKCa-dependent pathway, rather than a GSK-3&beta:-dependent pathway, may mediate intracellularb-catenin degradation by cardamonin., Cardamonin, a known 2&prime,,4&prime,-dihydroxy-6&prime,-methoxychalcone, was identified as an inhibitor of melanocyte differentiation, among many other pharmacology activities.
