Description

A novel diterpene triepoxide isolated from the Chinese herb Tripterygium wilfordii that acts as a potent immunosuppressant and anti-inflammatory agent. Induces apoptosis in tumor cells, sensitizes tumor cells to TNF-alpha-induced activation of NF-kappaB. Also inhibits IL-2 expression in activated T-cells at the level of purine-box/nuclear factor and NF-kappaB transcriptional activation. Also reported to inhibit mitogen activated protein kinase phosphatase-1 (MKP-1).
