Description

A cell-permeable, nonsterol, benzenesulfonamide compound that acts as a highly selective and potent liver X receptor agonist (EC50 = 20 nM for LXRalpha). Reported to induce the expression of genes associated with fatty acid biosynthesis. Raises the levels of serum HDL cholesterol and triglycerides in mice and inhibits the development of atherosclerosis in LDL receptor-deficient mice.
