Description

Immunoglobulin A (IgA) is the most dominantly generated antibody isotype. They are majorly secreted in the intestinal mucosa. IgA is present in colostrum, serum, saliva, and nasal fluid. It exists in two isotypic forms namely: IgA1 and IgA2. It is generated as secretory IgA (sIgA) and serum IgA. Serum IgA is present in the dimeric form linked by disulfide bond with an additional J chain. sIgA occurs in a monomeric form with two heavy and two light chains.
