Description
Recombinant, human granzyme A expressed in E. coli. Granzyme A is a trypsin-like serine protease found in the cytotoxic granules and secreted by cytotoxic T lymphocytes (CTL) and natural killer (NK) cells. Granzyme A is a pro-apoptotic enzyme that induces cell death through a caspase-independent mechanism. Granzyme A-induced apoptosis results in single-stranded DNA nicking, nuclear fragmentation, chromatin condensation, loss of mitochondrial potential, and membrane blebbing. Granzyme A is also known to bind to and cleave nucleolin, activate the thrombin receptor on neuronal cells and astrocytes, cleave and activate interleukin-1beta, and cleave putative HLA-associated protein II (PHAP II). Recombinant human Granzyme A expressed in E. coli., Recombinant, human granzyme A expressed in E. coli. Granzyme A is a trypsin-like serine protease secreted by cytotoxic T lymphocytes (CTL) and natural killer (NK) cells. A proapoptotic enzyme that induces cell death through caspase-independent mechanism, causing single-stranded DNA nicking and other apoptotic features including nuclear fragmentation, chromatin condensation, loss of mitochondrial potential, and membrane blebbing. Granzyme A is also known to bind to and cleave nucleolin and activate the thrombin receptor on neuronal cells and astrocytes. It also cleaves and activates interleukin-1beta. Note: The M.W. is that of a homodimer.
