GENAPOL(R) Detergents are polyglycol ethers with the general formula R-CH2-O-(CH2CH2O)nH, where n = the number of ethylene oxides. The Calbiochem's GENAPOLs have been purified for the isolation of membrane proteins (cloud point: 82C in H2O, HLB number:13-14). They can be used in protocols that require UV monitoring of the solubilized proteins because of their low UV absorbance.
