Description
Interleukin-22 receptor subunit alpha-1 (UniProt Q8N6P7, also known as CRF2-9, Cytokine receptor class-II member 9, Cytokine receptor family 2 member 9, IL-22 receptor subunit alpha-1, IL-22R-alpha-1, IL-22RA1, ZcytoR11) is encoded by the IL22RA1 (also known as IL22R) gene (Gene ID 58985) in human. IL-22RA-1 is a member of the type II cytokine receptor family that complexes with IL-10RB and mediates JAK/STAT signaling. IL22 binding to heterodimer is greater than binding to IL22RA1 alone. IL-22RA-1 is expressed in colon, liver, lung, pancreas and kidney, however, no expression is observed in immune cells, such as monocytes, T-cells, and NK-cells. It is also detected in normal blood brain barrier endothelial cells as well as in multiple sclerosis lesions. Higher expression has been observed in synovial fluid cells from rheumatoid arthritis and spondyloarthropathy patients.
