The lac operon inducer IPTG (isopropyl-&beta,-D-1-thiogalactopyranoside) is recommendedfor blue/white screening by lacZ &alpha,-complementation with appropriate vectorsand host strains, such as pSTBlue-1/NovaBlue,and for inducing protein expression with thepET System and other lac promoter-derivedexpression systems.
