A zwitterionic detergent with an aromatic core that is shown to stabilize and solubilize integral membrane proteins by breaking aggregates. Useful for protein analysis and characterization by two-dimensional (2-D) gel electrophoresis and mass spectrometry techniques. Reported to be superior to CHAPS (Cat. No. 220201) in solubilizing both an anion-channel and a G-protein coupled receptor (GPCR)., A zwitterionic detergent (zwittergent(R)) containing an aromatic core that has been demonstrated to stabilize and solubilize integral membrane proteins by breaking aggregates. Useful for protein analysis and characterization by two-dimensional gel electrophoresis and mass spectrometry techniques. Reported to be superior to CHAPS (Cat. No. 220201) in solubilizing an ion-channel protein and a G-protein coupled receptor (GPCR). In combination with thiourea and urea, also reported to improve the recovery of hydrophobic proteins from Arabidopsis thaliana.
