RM-BF421b is composed of milled, dried powder from purely EH92-527-1 potatoes and its genetic identity has been confirmed by nucleotide sequencing. The number fraction is calculated by counting the number of non-modified potatoes and the number of EH92-527-1 potatoes and expressing the result as a percentage. Each individual potato was tested for the presence of the genetic modification by staining a small potato piece for the presence of amylose (Lugol?s test). The genetic identification is based on event-specific real-time PCR for EH92-527-1 and nucleotide sequencing around the junction region between the transgene insert and the potato genome.
