Application Note: 2-(((tert-Butyldimethylsilyl)oxy)methyl)-4-cyanobenzoic Acid is an intermediate in the synthesis of 4-[4-(Dimethylamino)-1-oxobutyl]-3-(hydroxymethyl)benzonitrile (D461745). 4-[4-(Dimethylamino)-1-oxobutyl]-3-(hydroxymethyl)benzonitrile is a by-product in the synthesis of Citalopram/Escitalopram, a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor that relieves the symptoms of diabetes and is used in the treatment of depression.
