Tryptic Soy Agar + LTHC - in 90 mm settle plates with 30 mL filling volume for long incubation is designed for the detection of the total aerobic microbial count of preservative-containing samples or efficacy tests of disinfectants. TSA medium is used for the cultivation and isolation of a wide range of bacteria, yeasts, and molds. The formulation contains a combination of casein and soy peptones supplying organic nitrogen, particularly amino acids and longer-chained peptides. Sodium chloride maintains the osmotic equilibrium. The medium is also supplemented with high amounts of neutralizers such as lecithin, polysorbate (Tween(R)) 80, histidine, and Cysteine to inactivate disinfectants or preservatives.
