Description

This Standard Reference Material (SRM®) is intended primarily for the calibration of X-ray diffraction (XRD) spectrometers for the determination of respirable cristobalite using National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) Method 7500, or the equivalentThe SRM was produced by depositing a known amount of NIST-1879a Respirable Cristobalite as a slurry on a 25 mm diameter polyvinyl chloride (PVC) filter. Each unit of NIST-2960 consists of one unit each of SRMs 2961, 2962, 2963, 2964, 2965, and 2966, each unit of SRMs 2961, 2962, 2963, 2964, 2965, and 2966 consists of five blank PVC filters containing no cristobalite and five loaded PVC filters containing a known mass of respirable cristobalite. The blank filters and the loaded filters are stored in two clear plastic petri dishes, respectively, with blue spacer sheets separating the filters. National Institute of Standards and Technology

NIST provides over 1300 Standard Reference Materials® as well as articles and practice guides describing the development, analysis and use of SRMs.

NIST Standard Reference Materials are used by analytical laboratories in industry, academia and government in order to facilitate commerce and trade and to advance research and development. The SRMs are produced by the engineering laboratory, the material measurement laboratory, and the physical measurement laboratory at NIST. They are available for chemical composition, physical properties, and engineering materials.
